Host Mercy generously shared her personal experience as a person with a disability, recounting the various challenges and discrimination she faced growing up. She spoke about how she embraced her anger to become a disability rights advocate and scholar. As a non-disabled person, Baru shared how she first connected with the disability community, along with her experiences working in film and education for the deaf and hard of hearing.
This episode explored the idea that disability is not just a fixed identity but something anyone might experience at different moments in life. The hope is that these words can inspire more people to pay attention to disability issues, shift their perspectives, and see the world differently. Only by understanding that the world is not as straightforward as we often assume can we foster a more caring and inclusive society.
