【聊了什么 The What】
In this episode, we explore the relationship between technology and disability. From electronic guide dogs, smart canes, and sign-language-translating gloves to hearing aids and high-tech prosthetics, we ask a seemingly simple but surprisingly complex question: What does genuinely good assistive technology look like? Technology does not automatically mean progress. Some products may appear innovative and futuristic while overlooking disabled people’s actual experiences and needs—or even trying to “solve” things that disabled people do not see as problems in the first place. We discuss why certain highly publicized technologies have faced criticism from disability communities and what makes technology genuinely useful and sustainable. Through examples such as hearing aids and prosthetics, we also explore how attitudes toward technology, treatment, and rehabilitation vary across disability communities, and whether expensive high-tech solutions can reinforce the outdated idea that disability is primarily an individual problem.
