九月是聋人意识月。主播八如邀请到了她的两位偶像：小果和自由博士（Dr. Freedom），从他们接触手语、走进聋人社群的经历聊起。从学手语时的好奇，到真正认识一个个具体的人，话题也慢慢延伸到舒适圈之外。口语聋人、手语使用者和聋盲者的不同经历提醒我们：聋人社群里有许多不同的生活方式。面对快速发展的 AI 手语翻译，我们讨论了技术能提供哪些帮助，又有哪些人与人之间的沟通无法被替代。最后，小果和 Freedom 分享了短剧、绘本与戏剧工作坊的计划，希望让更多聋人社群的故事被大众看见。
September is Deaf Awareness Month. Host Baru invites two of her personal idols, Xiao Guo and Dr. Freedom, to talk about how they first encountered sign language and entered the Deaf community. From the curiosity of learning to sign to getting to know real people, the conversation gradually moves beyond our comfort zones. The experiences of Deaf people who use oral languages, signers, and DeafBlind people remind us that the Deaf community holds many different ways of living. As AI sign language translation develops quickly, we discuss what technology can offer and what human connection it cannot replace. Xiao Guo and Freedom also share their plans for short dramas, picture books, and theater workshops, hoping to bring more stories from the Deaf community to a wider audience.
